It typically works like this: The store is closed for a day or two to restock the bins with new items. On the first shopping day, all items have one price (like $8). Then, the next day whatever is leftovers from before has a discounted price at $6. And then, following that same pattern, every item would be priced at $4 on Day 3 and by Day 4 every item would only cost $2. On Day 5, everything would be $1, and then they need to restock again. Of course, the pricing and selection of items varies by store.
A few bin stores, such as the Goodwill bin stores, are going with a “pay by the pound” option with prices ranging from 79¢ to $1.49 per pound.
